This scenic trek follows the ancient high-level route between Paro and Thimpu, passing through terraced farmland, mixed forest, alpine pastureland and Scenic Mountain passes. Continuing on through Jigme Dorji National Park, you have an opportunity to spot a variety of flora and fauna unique to Bhutan, including the Bhutan national animal, Takin. Gasa, with its remote hilltop Dzong and its natural hot springs, offers a unique opportunity to savour the tranquility of Bhutan.

Your flight should afford breathtaking views of the Himalayan peaks before you land in Paro, to be met by our local representatives. Travel by van to Thimpo for an overnight at your hotel.
This morning you will have time for sightseeing in Thimpu, including the Tashichho Dzong, a huge fortress housing government Ministries, and the office and Throne Room of the King. In the evening you will drive up to Dochola Pass (26 Kms.) to enjoy a spectacular view of the Eastern Himalaya, continuing on (50 km) to the former national capital of Punakha.
Your day starts with a 45-minute drive to Tashithang and the starting point of your trek. The trek starts with a steep climb through Jigme Dorji National Park until you reach Damji at 2430m. If you are lucky, you may come across Takin, the furry goat-antelope that are the national animal of Bhutan. On the way to Damji you can visit village temples and farm houses. Overnight in your camp in Damji.
This morning your trek begins along the side of Gasa Valley and then drops to the large stream below Gasa. The trail leads north from here, following the stream directly to the hot spring at 2240m. The hot springs are situated along the banks of the Mochu River that flows through Punakha and Wangdue Valleys. There are five or six cement pools where you can relax in the hot water. Overnight at your camp site near the hot spring.
This morning you hike to Gasa Dzong, a remote 17-th century fortress overlooking the valley. Enjoy a picnic lunch at Gasa Dzong while taking in the view from this fortress. In the afternoon, return to your camp for a rest, enjoy a dip in the hot spring and meet some of the friendly local people.
Today you trek back to Tashithang on a downhill path through subtropical forest and along the Mochu River, where orchids and monkeys may be spotted. At Tashithang you will meet your driver for the ride back to Punakha, stopping for a picnic lunch on the way.
Today you will ride back to Paro where you will have to time to wander through the town or enjoy a traditional hot stone bath.
